Message From the Board
The Whitchurch-Stouffville Strawberry Festival is run for the benefit of our community - all the Festival organized entertainment and kids activities are free and this year we have undertaken, through a partnership with the Town’s Economic Development Office, a program to encourage festival participants to visit community-wide businesses and attractions. From Main Street to Musselman’s Lake, visitors will have access to special value offerings to encourage purchases throughout our community – having fun and creating economic opportunity in the safe and comfortable environment of Memorial Park. The value package will be available through the Festival Guide and the Towns’ OTR (On the Road) publication.
We have also created a venue to help community organizations like: The Lions Rubber Ducky Races, The Food Bank, the Firefighters Charity Dunk Tank and the Stouffville Baseball Association-Stouffville Yankees Corn Roast. At the 2018 Festival, the Yankees raised over $1500 with their Corn Roast – despite the hot weather!
And it is all 100% driven by community volunteers planning, brainstorming and tirelessly working from September until launch day on the July 1st weekend.
In 2019, our volunteer team has made some changes to the Festival layout. We have re-located activities and facilities to more weather sheltered areas. Out from under the sun and in higher and drier locations. Our vendors will also be thrilled with the new “streetscape” layout running down Park Street and ending at the Marquee and Kids Activity Zone at the bottom end of Church Street Lane. Also, this is the first year of our Greening the Festival initiative. Three local residents have volunteered their time to ensure we are more environmentally friendly - less waste, less greenhouse gases and more education for us all on what environmental sustainability looks like.
Get ready for four nights of evening entertainment culminating in the now-famous Canada Day celebrations fireworks.
There will be something for everyone! Starting Friday with the Opening Ceremonies and the "Made in Canada" music celebration, to Saturday's Down Home Country BBQ with an evening of Country Music, Sunday's Local Artist Showcase (featuring rising artists from across York Region) and finishing with a bang on Monday with the Blackboard Blues Band and our amazing annual fireworks display!!!"
It's' going to be an amazing Festival, we could not make this happen without the generosity of our sponsors - we are grateful for those who continue to support us. Thank you Festival sponsors.
